Confession Time

I have a confession to make. I am TOTALLY. Addicted. To Pinterest. There, I admit it. *Sigh of relief* I could literally spend hours (and have spent) browsing on Pinterest and reading all the great posts. I often can't get to sleep at night due to all the fabulous ideas buzzing around in my head. And so, I have come to a conclusion... I NEED to win the lottery (which is highly unlikely given that I never play) so that I can afford to a) design, build, & furnish my dream house b) travel to new and exciting places c) fill my closets with all the super cute outfits & shoes I've pinned and d) experiment with the neverending diy projects I want to try. My hubby teases me about sitting on my "roost" pinning recipes, organizational techniques, ways to clean practically anything, etc. instead of actually putting it to good use. I consider this a challenge. I am going to pick 5 pins to implement over the course of the next 2 weeks. Cant wait to see how they all turn out! Stayed tuned for more. Melanie

Non-Foodie

Growing up, we were a meat & potatoes kind of family. We rarely went out to eat. The rule was "if you don't like it, don't eat it...just don't complain about it". My dad is a VERY picky eater...no pasta, no soups, no casserole of any kind. And so we had the weekly staples. Fried chicken, cubed steak, pork chops, etc with basic veggies like green beans & mashed potatoes. Don't get me wrong, this was all good food, but I never learned to branch out and try new & different things. Now I watch cooking shows or look through cookbooks and think wow that looks good...oh but wait I don't like this or that ingredient. Once a worker at Subway literally laughed out loud when I ordered a club sandwich with just mustard and pickles. I often have to clarify what I mean when I order a cheeseburger, plain (ie meat, cheese, bun). No I do not want Mayo or tomato or onion. I sometimes think my life would somehow be better if only I were a "foodie". I WANT to like seafood, portabello mushrooms, eggplant and such...BUT I just don't. I have tried many new things, but rarely do I find something I like. Does this mean our tastes are formed and concreted in childhood? I don't know the answer to that, but just in case I have always encouraged my kids to try new things. Other people are astonished when they learn my kids LOVE mussels & calamari or brocolli & cauliflower. Maybe someday I will learn to appreciate different foods. Until then, I'll enjoy my plain cheeseburgers, spaghetti, and grilled chicken :)

Welcome to My World!

Welcome to A Charmed Delight! As a SAH wife and mother of 4, I find there is never a dull moment around here. I hope to record some of our adventures and also give a little insight into our zany bunch. I wear many hats around here...everything from caregiver to maid to personal chauffeur. I recently decided to add a couple more to the long list...jewelry designer and blogger. Both of which I am very excited about!!
